Piloña

      Piloña owns a gastronomy based on rural products taken from mountain and countryside. Here, you can taste the most traditional meals, for instance: cabbage and potatoes dishes, wild boar, rabbit, and chicken dishes, homemade cheese, and so on ("afuega'l pitu" cheese is very famous).
      At the same time, it is a nourishing and strong gastronomy which has remained over the years, and it is very famous for its dishes based on deer, wild boar and hare meat. Beans are also very nice, and they are often cooked with hare and partridge; as you can see gastronomy is really varied, and there are also many dishes based on lamb and kid.

     There is also a very important festival every year (October) where hazelnut is promoted. Not only its crop but also its confectionery have been developed during 30 years, and people from Piloña are very proud of it.
     "Hazelnut Festival" is not the only one, a gastronomic festival, based on game, take place every year (February). You can taste delicious dishes prepared with a wide range of meat ( animals already mentioned), hunted in Piloña´s deep forests by several groups of hunters
